This weekend was my birthday weekend so I decided that cooking was definitely out of the question - not that I do a great deal of cooking, Chris is head chef in our house!! so Friday night was spent in the Chinese - Golden City - located opposite the Teguise Playa Hotel - ok not traditional fare but excellent value for money and the choice of dishes is second to none from their buffet!! If you like prawns then this is definitely worth a visit. The staff are friendly and the food is piping hot and freshly cooked. Saturday afternoon we spent in Kerman's sampling some of the most tastiest tapas you could wish for washed down with a refreshing glass of white wine. There is so much to choose from and the staff are attentive and helpful. I have always thought tapas is expensive but this place certainly proves me wrong. Ask for their traditional House sweet to finish off........... it is to die for but be aware it is very filling as well as fattening. To round off the weekend on Sunday evening we went to La Aulaga now known as Casa Felix overlooking the sea at Playa Bastian. We decided to go for traditional fare so Felix brought us a selection of typically Canarian dishes, washed down with a wonderful bottle of wine. The service is second to none, the ambience fabulous along with the views..... and on a Friday and Saturday night he has traditional Spanish music playing from around 10 pm so well worth a visit to sample the local Canarian hospitality.

Playa Blanca Cricket Club is always on the lookout for talented new players, so if you live in the Yaiza area or are just visiting why not get involved. Meet new people and experience a game of cricket in 30 degree heat (there really is nothing quite like it). Pop into Gravity Bar in Playa Blanca (opposite the church) and ask for Martyn or Anthony who will be happy to provide more information.

MALAGA Airport has introduced breathalyser tests for pilots air crew and staff who work on the ‘air side’ of the airport. This applies to those working in the restricted areas with platforms, service lanes, tunnels and luggage sorting. The controls will be carried out by the Guardia Civil although the initiative has been introduced by the Spanish Airport Authorities, AENA, who have provided the breathalysers which will be used and which are identical to those used at traffic controls. Since it was introduced at the beginning of last month, tests have been carried out, all of them negative.
