We first heard about Sophie and Eddie Thurston when we sold the "19th Hole" bar to the McDonald family last year. They had all worked together back in the UK and during October 2009 we got our initial enquiry from Eddie asking for more information about buying a business in Lanzarote.

From the start it was clear that both had experience in the bar trade and knew what to expect from running a bar. After many questions about what was required for running a bar in Lanzarote it was decided that the Pool bar on San Francisco II was their favourite location, unfortunately when they made an offer to the owners in January it was declined.

San Francisco II is situated just around the corner from their friends at the “19th Hole” Sophie, Eddie and their business partner Carl realised that the two bars could really work together with San Francisco II a perfect location for the daytime and the 19th Hole for the evenings.

Ian continued negotiations on the pool bar throughout February and finally a deal was struck that was acceptable to both parties. Once the bar was reserved Veronica searched to find the couple a two bedroom apartment for rent close to the bar in the Old Town area of Puerto del Carmen. With both the bar and their new home reserved, Eddie and Sophie gave in their notice with their employers in the UK and began their relocation plan for a new life in the sun.

The completion was signed on the 15th March 2010, the San Francisco II pool bar was officially theirs! Sophie and Eddie worked hard from day one, they believe that high standards, good quality food and great service will guarantee repeat custom. As you can see from the photos, the bar is already proving to be a great success not only are they attracting the clients staying on the complex but the locals too who pop in for the friendly service and excellent food.

The pool bar has stunning views out over the new harbour extension in Puerto del Carmen, they have a regular Wednesday night barbecue with tasty cooked meat and freshly prepared salads. The bar has live sports and a plasma TV too so its a great location to catch the World Cup matches!

They have helped us to realise our dream and we cannot thank them enough!  Already we have felt so at home here in Lanzarote and we were guided through the whole process from start to finish by Ian who has helped us to achieve what we thought would never be possible!"
