Recent Survey, 8 out of 10 Brits would like to move abroad

According to a recent survey by Immigration New Zealand, 8 out of 10 Britons, a staggering 85% of Brits have considered, or could be persuaded to move abroad permanently.

The reason given by the participants, for wanting to make the move now, was they felt the UK was one of the worst affected countries following the credit crunch and if made redundant they would consider moving abroad to start again.

Another recent survey by Foreign Currency Direct found that 58% would move abroad for a better work / life balance, they interviewed a selection of 1200 British workers of which 31% said they would move abroad to get better taxation advantages, and in the over 60’s participants 40% said they would move abroad to save tax on their pension payments.

Spain continues to be a popular destination for expats, despite the economic situation and the downturn in the property market – we have read articles about families moving back to the UK as they can’t find work, but equally if not more so, families are still moving abroad for a fresh start.

Here, at Estupendo, we’ve continued to receive lots of enquiries about relocating to Lanzarote, we have a large number of clients who are waiting to sell their properties in the UK and make the move, we’ve also seen an increase of clients choosing to rent out their property in the UK and relocate now, rather than wait for the property market to pick up again. There has also been an increase of clients who can commute or work from abroad with their existing jobs, with the advances of technology and the internet. Another popular option is to take a career break, this can be anything from 6 months to 5 years where your job is guaranteed for your return, giving you time to travel or live abroad but knowing you can go back to your career at the end of the time agreed – if you want to!
