The intial contact was made to Estupendo from Sam who was the main researcher for the programme and quickly all three Estupendo offices set about finding suitable properties to show the executive producer Katy and researcher Dan. After showing many properties a short list was made and Estupendo had three properties for the show including one of the three properties for the couple to choose from. After much anticipation it was time for me to meet the channel four film crew and the presenter Jasmine. We met at a luxury 2.5 million villa in the heart of Puerto Calero which was home for a month to the director of the film "Broken Embraces" set in Lanzarote and starring Penelope Cruz. I was asked by Katy the executive director if I would like to be filmed showing Jasmine around this amazing property. How could I say no!! With a face of obvious "what have I let myself in for" and with nothing more to do, Jasmine was over to me to reasure me that she would lead the way and before we knew it the camera was rolling and myself and Jasmine were walking around the luxury pool chatting about anything and everything. The next day we met to film the Matagorda Bay complex on the outskirts of Puerto del Carmen. After filming constantly for the past year this was to be the very last days filming before a long earned rest for both the crew and Jasmine. The couple who are choosing the property are kept very much under wraps and are only paraded onto the complex once everything is set up so that the show catches the couples genuine reactions to both the complex and inside the apartment. Who said these programmes are a set up! The filming was meant to last for around three hours and over four hours later a very tired and weary crew had one last shoot to do in the islands famous cactus gardens for the couples decision and then it was party time! It is only after seeing first hand how much hard work and preparation goes into the making of one show with thirty hours of filmed footage being condensed into only one hour. No doubt my scenes will end up on the editors cutting room floor which takes a further two weeks to prepare but I can certainly look back and say with my hand on heart that everyone involved from Channel 4 was genuinely a pleasure to work with. Dates of the show are yet to be confirmed so watch this space for more details.
