The Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has raised the alert level to ‘orange’ for high temperatures in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, until 17.00 today, Monday 20th June 2011, for temperatures exceeding 37 degrees Celsius. The south of Gran Canaria’s ‘yellow’ warning remains for temperatures up to 34 degrees. Tomorrow 21st June 2011, the ‘orange’ warning also extends to the south of Gran Canaria with temperatures reaching as high as 40 degrees Celsius, from 11.00 to 17.00. In the south of Tenerife, La Gomera and Gran Canaria there will be peaks of up to 34 degrees, which is currently on ‘yellow’ alert. Thursday the warning level for Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, south and center of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, La Gomera and south west of La Palma and El Hierro will be ‘yellow’. High temperatures will be accompanied by airborne dust. Remember to drink plenty.
