Father Teds Bar

Father Teds Gerry Sharon & Lee I first got an email enquiry from Sharon and Gerry Kearns in the December of 2009. They were working in Dublin and with a young son called Lee they felt disillusioned with the lifestyle of Ireland which involved working long hours and paying out more and more in taxes and monthly living costs just to keep their heads above the water. With a young son to think of it was decided that if they were going to make the move then it would be better sooner rather than later and the wheels of relocation were set in motion.

From the first email it was certain that Sharon and Gerry had already done lots of research from many repeat visits to Lanzarote and they had narrowed the search for a bar down to the Old town area of Puerto Del Carmen. With a couple of firm favourites including a pool bar and a bar on the La Hoya commercial centre it was simply a case of waiting for their arrival to view. Over the months there were many many emails with many many questions regarding buying a business here in Lanzarote and in March we finally met .

The Kearns family from day one were lovely and had a really genuine and friendly manner that was definitely suited to the bar trade that they were looking to start. With the pool bar now sold and with bar sales being very frisk especially at the lower end of the market with many people deciding to take the plunge to escape the rat race of the UK for the dream of owning their own business in the sun. The favourite bar turned out to be a closed Indian restaurant in the old town area of Puerto Del Carmen which ticked all of the boxes including the large terrace area for clients to relax in the sun with a cold beer or two.

Before 1 Before 2

The bar/restaurant was in need of new paperwork and a full project with new licence application to change the activity from a restaurant to a bar/cafeteria with "Live music" which was best to be done from new. With the assistance of Natasha from EBF Consultants and Cesar who is a local engineer we set up a meeting at the premises to get some costing done as well as meeting with some local food and beer suppliers. Sharon knew what she wanted to do in the bar and with their vision of a Home from Home Irish bar that offered first class service with a friendly craic with it’s customers "Father Teds" was starting to become a reality.

The quotes were all in place and it was time for the Kearns family to return home to Dublin to get ready to return and start a new life in the sun. The bar is now fully open for cold beers and "Live music" and the new kitchen and food service will be opening very soon. Father Teds is situated at the top of the stairs in the La Hoya centre in Puerto Del Carmen’s old town area and already the bar is building up a reputation as one of the most friendliest bars on the island with everyone guaranteed a welcome smile from Sharon and Gerry.

If you are looking for just a chill out beer during the long hot days or a great night out with "live music" and some friendly craic then Father Teds has to be on your list for a visit .......oh.go on,go on ,go on!!. With a thank you card to the Estupendo Puerto del Carmen office that reads....

"Thank you so much for making our dream of living in Lanzarote come true! Nothing was too much bother for you and we really appreciate the excellent service you gave. We will definitely be recommending you! There is always a drink at Father Teds for you both, Thanks, Gerry, Sharon and Lee."

It’s clear to see that Estupendo are here to offer all the help and advice you will need to make that dream of owning your own business in the sun a reality!!
