We get lots of correspondence from worried parents who wonder if a move to Lanzarote will be beneficial for their children. The main concern is what kind of education will their children receive on a small island such as Lanzarote. We’ve already written blog posts about the local schools on offer here but I thought you’d like to know about one particular Lanzarote student.
Rachael Hill moved to Lanzarote when she was just 8 years old and attended the Colegio Hispano Británico in Puerto del Carmen. Rachael was an extremely bright and dedicated student and was allowed to accelerate through the British Curriculum to pass her GCSE exams at the age of 13 and her A-level exams at just 15. Rachael has just hit the headlines in the UK for becoming the youngest doctor to qualify in Britain! Unfortunately in the UK Rachael had to wait 2 years until she was 17 before being allowed to study the 5 years of training necessary to become a doctor. This week she graduated from the University of Manchester at the age of 21 and is due to start her rotation at the Royal Preston Hospital.
Congratulations Rachael on an outstanding achievement!
