The party on the beach was amazing! We watched the game on a giant screen on El Reducto beach as the sun set, and Spain played out of their skins to beat a side everyone was convinced would win the cup.

Spain, the European champions are taking on the incredibly in-form Germans in the World Cup semi-final.

More than 250 surfers are currently on the island enjoying the surf at Famara as part of the WQS La Santa surf pro competition. Competitors from all over the world are here, as the event is a top class one carrying a strong weighting for world ranking, as well as a top prize of $135,000.

Around 80 divers took part in the annual beach clean up last month at Costa Teguise. This event was in it’s second year and was superbly organised by Teguise Ayuntamiento. Hundreds of local kids and adults collected loads of rubbish from the beaches, while those of us under water cleared all kinds of debris from the sea bed, including sun beds, beer barrels, anchors, hundres of plastic bags, but sadly no gold! Afterwards there was a terrific party on the beach with food and drinks laid on by various hotels and Lani’s restaurants.

The PWA windsurfing world championships have finished now in Costa Teguise after five days of near perfect conditions of strong wind and sunshine.

The men’s event was won by José Estredo from Venezuela, with Aruban Sarah Quita Offringa taking first place in the ladies event.

Megafun at Los Pocillos in Puerto del Carmen offer quad bike tours over the island to Famara and back - fantastic fun!

There are two karting tracks in Lanzarote, this is the Schumacher track up the hill from Playa Honda towards San Bartolomé, the other is off the main road at the side of the runway heading towards Puerto del Carmen.
